Primarily operating a collision auto body shop catering to the custom bike/auto enthusiast, my specialty is custom paint and design on anything from toilet seats, office desks, and wall art to the custom show bike. I have painted several of my children's toys over the years. I have a daughter Lauren who is now 19 and in college, a son Zac who is 17 and in high school and youngest daughter Brooke who is 9 and in elementary school. None of their toys, bicycles, scooters or even strollers has ever been safe from their dad's flare to stand out in a crowd over the years. Of course they've had the “coolest” toys around!
As a young guy I was first motivated when my dad and I did a frame off custom 1955 Chevrolet. I was inspired in the custom paint and graphic design art by watching and learning from the 70's and 80's custom van icon Gary Hayes a.k.a. “Boogie Man”. He took me under his wing, mentored and fed my eagerness to learn the trade. After working as a painter for a local body shop for several years I opened my own shop in 1997. I started out with the usual fender bender and collision jobs, but as time went by I realized my heart is in the custom work.
Recently I have spent most of my time on custom paint jobs with the occasional standard repair work. In order to keep up with ever changing technology I attend workshops learning new techniques using new innovative paint and materials. I hope someday to be able to do just custom work and get to the point in my life and career where my style will stand out in a crowd and you will know it's a Taylor Custom paint job.
